TRICIA SCRUGGS

Four years ago, Tricia stepped out on faith, leaving a long career in the insurance industry, to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist. She covered various issues for two community newspapers, including a discrimination lawsuit at a local elementary school that gained national attention, prior to becoming a freelance journalist in 2007. Tricia has been a regular special contributor to The Dallas Morning News.

Tricia is  passionate about  travel and is honored to meet people from all walks of life. She enjoys learning about history and the lives of those who helped to mold it. She enjoys reading and recently finished 20 Reasons to Study the Civil War, by John C. Waugh, and From "Superman" to Man by J.A. Rogers.

While a resident of Houston, she became affiliated with the
I Have A Dream Foundation through which she mentored a disadvantaged teen. There she was asked to participate in the production of the foundation's orientation film and served as a speaker to those interested in becoming mentors and tutors.
Tricia completed the Dublin Marathon in Ireland, in support of the Aids Foundation of Chicago.

Tricia and her husband are members of Fellowship Bible Church Dallas.
